Mars Stations Retrograde in Leo

On December 5, the Sun conjuncts Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius at 14º. This is the arrival of some information that is helpful, but be aware that it is very likely not the full story. We are still missing details, and this will be tempting to ignore or overlook. The day may feel enlightening, inspiring even. Something clicks in a big picture sense when envisioning future plans thanks to support from the Aquarius Moon. Mercury will not be direct until next week. Continue collecting data. More will be reveled. 

Loyalty, loyalty, loyalty. On December 6, Mars stations retrograde at 6º of Leo and will appear to be traveling backwards until February 23, 2025. This pulls focus to all Mars-ruled themes. The planet that rules external action and ambition will now focus these themes inward. Not a great time for starting new projects, a great time for reworking existing ones. If you are trying to move quickly, get your way without compromise or reflection, or make significant outward progress at this time, frustration is likely. Until January 6 (when Mars will step back into Cancer), we are focused on the Leo parts of our lives; Who or what are you loyal to? Where does your confidence fade? Anger analysis. Reconnecting to hearts desire. Why do you desire what you desire? Are those desires outdated? Reconsidering authentic creativity, sexuality, and play. 

Slow your roll. Also on December 6, Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius squares Saturn in Pisces at 13º. More blocks, this time in terms of communications with others. This is the second square out of three that will occur. Think back to the first square that happened on or around November 12. Here is the next piece of that story. At the first square, Saturn was retrograde. This time, it’s Mercury’s turn. Themes of not being able to say everything that needs to be said continue in various forms. Information for one reason or another is off-limits, intentionally hidden, or deceptive, especially the details. Pocket the information that does surface. With both planets direct for the final square on December 27, we are a few weeks out from the big reveal. 

Intensity time. On December 7, Venus enters Aquarius and conjuncts Pluto at 0º and will be building to apply an opposition to Mars in Leo (not exact until December 12). Venus in Aquarius is open to experimentation, bringing big energy to innovate the way we deal with finances and relationships. Pluto will make certain that this day is felt deeply in some regard related to freedom. How free do we feel in love and relationships? How freely do we experiment to test our own fixed conventions? Arguably, the most important reflection here is about new ways to prioritize self-love. Any planet that enters Aquarius now has to conjunct Pluto upon entry until 2044, forcing the themes of that planet to revolutionize our lives. Intense love contacts. Same old way will not work going forward. Confronting obsessions. Facing the shadow/underworld of our relationships to self, other, money and pleasure. 

Also on December 7, the Sun in Sagittarius opposes Jupiter retrograde in Gemini at 16º. With Venus meeting Pluto on the same day, pay attention to obsessive behavior and gluttonous interests. This day can reveal what within a dynamic is insatiable, impossible to satisfy and perhaps in attempting the impossible we over-do, over-promise, over-deliver. Too much optimism. This aspect can aid in ignoring the detrimental shadows of the Venus/Pluto dynamic that are screaming for attention. Feels ‘all good,’ but not all is as presenting on the surface. 

On December 9-10, the Sun in Sagittarius trines Chiron retrograde at 19º Aries (while the moon also travels through the sign of Aries). This can be a helpful channel for the optimism that the Sagittarius Sun is so desperately trying to live for this week. Something does finally flow in the name of healing old dynamics and boosting new confidence, when we embrace the adventure, embrace not having it all figured out.
