Mars Enters Capricorn, First Squares Neptune at 29º

On December 13, Mercury in Sagittarius sextiles Pluto in Aquarius at 2º. This transit deepens our thinking, our conversations, and social exchanges. Staying surface-level in our interactions is less appealing. Mercury in Sagittarius has us candid, frank, and curious. It’s easier to make the joke or directly ask the question. Its a great day for discussing possibilities for the future, as we are likely to be optimistic and interested in identifying what next adventure is calling. 

On December 14, Mars in Sagittarius squares Neptune in Pisces at 29º. On one hand, this can be fun and inspiring, but its more likely to be messy, fuzzy, and leaving details difficult to identify. Mars, the archer at the anaretic degree of Sagittarius, is confident in charging toward what it desires to explore. But Neptune can blur the lines, the position of the target, and create a high possibility of overshooting the mark. Imagination and creativity are heightened, amplifying our desires in creative projects or physical sensuality, but indulge these desires with caution. If we can’t find an appropriate channel for this energy, escapist tendencies and falling back on addictions are likely. If you have deadlines or important work in process, stay focused. Today’s distractions are tantalizing, but will probably leave you feeling guilty, inadequate, or unfulfilled should you choose avoidance and gluttony over important goals.  

Also on December 14, the Sun in Sagittarius trines Chiron retrograde in Aries at 22º. This happens in the early morning, and as it becomes exact, the Moon in Libra joins the configuration with an opposition to Chiron and a sextile to the Sun. This is a harmonious aspect that connects the energy of our self-expression with our sense of self-confidence and the (long ass) journey we have been on to strengthen those areas since Chiron entered Aries in 2019. We have a wind in our sails here. We can take some bold action that shows how we have progressed in going after what we desire or speaking up for our needs. Reflect on how far you’ve come in building up an authentic confidence since 2019. Do you feel you stand taller in your boots? Ahem.. Cough cough.. This is also gasoline on that imaginative/escapist fantasy fire of Mars/Neptune we just discussed. Same day. It’s critical to use this Sun/Chiron trine wisely. What is the highest direction for your authentic confidence? Point your arrow that way. 

On December 15, Mars enters the sign of Capricorn until January 23. Actions find grounded practicality. Mars is in his sign of exaltation now, which is very helpful for getting shit done! As we both wrap up the end of the year and begin a new one, we are in a prominent position for handling business. Look to the house in your birth chart that holds Capricorn. This is the area of life that you will be getting it done! 

On December 16, the Sun in Sagittarius squares Saturn in Pisces at 25º. Reality check moment. There is something that needs a second look, a better draft, a more detailed pitch. Saturn will likely block or restrict our efforts to explore or call on options once thought to be available. Personal power and agency clashes with authority figures, rules, or laws. Saturn will block those purely ego-serving motives. Whatever circumstance we feel stuck in, Saturn is actually just preparing us for the reality that we wish to enter. A rejection could be protection. A “no” may just mean “not yet.” 

On December 18, Venus in Sagittarius trines Chiron retrograde in Aries at 22º. Venus offers sweetness in the direction of our healing journey. Anything that we have been working to confront or overcome is blessed by Venus today, offering empathy for self and others. This can be a healing moment in a connection, a loving gesture from a partner, or some much needed self-care. Venus invites us to explore ways we can offer ourselves compassion. She may highlight the ways in which we have made progress on healing a relationship wound. We are encouraged to lean into what is flowing with ease in our connections.
