New Moon in Virgo, Welcome Virgo Season

On August 22, the Sun moves into Virgo until September 22. During this time, we have an overwhelming sense of needing to tighten up, clean up and clean out. The Sun in Virgo shines a light on our daily habits, rituals, schedules, diet, health, and all the ways in which we move through our mundane life. These are the small moments that make up the greater whole of our lived experience, and Virgo season will ask that we critically analyze how these elements are operating. 

On August 22, Venus in Cancer squares Chiron in Aries at 26º. This square will put bring our relationships, both with ourselves and others, into the mix of critical analysis. Venus in Cancer desires emotional security and safety, while Chiron in Aries is concerned with healing the sense of self. Touchy subjects breeched today appear to be a surface dynamic, but reach a little deeper and we can recognize that it stems from a childhood wound. Old hurts involving self expression, belonging, and confidence are brought to the mix today. We are called to look at the layers of our self-worth. What is truly authentic and intact? 

August 23 brings the new Moon in Virgo at 0º. This new Moon is critical, as it will be directly tied to a second new Moon and solar eclipse in Virgo set to occur on September 21. It would be wise to pay attention to current affairs and take note. Like every new Moon, this is a time to set intentions, for the next 28 day cycle, the next 6 month cycle, etc. Plant seeds now. The eclipse will be a much more difficult time to participate in intentional work. For now, we are focused on what we would like to clean up. What has gotten out of order? Perhaps its a physical space in the home, perhaps it is our sleep schedule or lack of discipline in our diet. Whatever it is, it will be incredibly loud now. Virgo is strong in matters of strategy and planning. Get clear on what is out of line. Set intentions now and choose small actions to honor those intentions for results that last. This new Moon is in a square to Uranus in Gemini, exact by the Sun tomorrow. This throws in the wild card element. Consider that options out of left field or that are unfamiliar may be exactly what is needed to achieve desired results. 

On August 24, the Sun in Virgo squares Uranus in Gemini at 1º. This aspect is going to highlight a sense of independence. We will be encouraged to go our own way today. Although we may face scrutiny or inner conflict, there is a driving force pushing us to make a new choice, to try something different, to consider the outlier. This square is happening in Mercury ruled signs, Virgo and Gemini, so we may see this play out most notably in the ways we are communicating with others, choosing silence instead of defensive explanations, or using language in new ways. This also is a major signal that our thinking is changing or needs to change. Perspectives are shifting. Holding to past comforts will create the most tension. 

On August 25, Venus enters Leo until September 19 and quickly will trine Saturn and Neptune retrograde in Aries at 0º. Venus, Saturn, and Neptune are are all involved in a sextile from both sides with Uranus in Gemini at 1º. (Venus sextile Uranus exact on August 26.) All of this astrological jargon to say that Venus has a hell of an entry into the glamorous sign of Leo. Venus rules relationships, money and resources, pleasure, beauty, and all of these categories are entering a new season. We are again invited to try new things, sampling and taking note of what truly brings us pleasure and what no longer does. This especially pertains to our social scenes, relational interactions, and the way that we interface with creative pursuits. 

On August 26, Venus in Leo opposes Pluto retrograde in Aquarius at 1º. We end the week with a trying and confrontational moment, as Venus desires to enjoy the pleasures of life, and Pluto in Aquarius weeds out the gluttony. This can humble egos and those only interested in pleasantries that are self-serving. Themes of jealousy, control, and power struggles can surface. Why do we desire what we desire? Why does this or that make us feel good? Do we feel the same when it doesn’t happen our way? Look deeper and prepare to transform some of these tendencies.
